Lothian Thistle 2 - Dundonald 4
Mutch, Drummond , Campbell, McKenzie
Dundonald were on the road again this time to face Lothian Thistle a team who narrowly defeated them the last time the two teams meet. Dundonald had the home side on the back foot from the first whistle and should
have taken the lead when a cross in from the left found,on loan, Ross Mutch on his own at the back post but with the goal open he fired the ball over. Two minutes later Mutch made up for his miss when he cut in from the right and fired the ball into the net. Drummond increased Dundonalds lead when his shot from the edge of the box found the net. Campbell added goal number three when he curled the ball into the net after a good break down the right. Lothian were under rentless pressure at this point and McKenzie increased their problems when he slotted the ball into the net for goal number four. Thistle gave themselves a life line when they pull a goal a back before the break.
Half Time 1-4
Although Dundonald had raced into a four goal lead Lothian had shown enough in the closing stages of the first half to show that they were dangerous on the break. A ball into the box allowed Lothian to score again and it was now Dundonald who were under pressure. The home suport thought they had scored again but the strikers header went over. Both Campbell then Wallace had chances to wrap this game up for the visitors but on both occasions the Lothian keeper denied them. In the last minute of the game Thistle were reduced to ten men when their left back got red carded for a vicious tackle on McKenzie.
After racing into a four goal lead Dundonald work rate dropped and gave Lothian a chance to get back into this game but they regrouped and gained three valuable points.
