League - Conference B

Haddington 3 - Dundonald  4                                    Wallace,Smith,Ness,Campbell

After last weeks hard fought draw with Bonnyrigg Dundonald found themselves on the road again at Haddington for this Conference B league match. The visitors got the perfect start to this match when Wallace volleyed a headed clearence into

the net. Dundonald increased their lead when Walton delivered a great ball into the box and Smith turned it into the net. It was one way traffic at this point with Haddington unable to get out their own half. The home side fell further behind when a lovely turn by McKenzie set up Ness who slotted the ball into the net. Campbell should have increased Dundonald's lead when he was put through by Smith but the striker put his shot wide. Moments later  the forward made up for his miss when he gathered McKenzie's pass and fired the ball into the net.

Half Time  0 - 4

Harsh words must have been said in the home teams dressing room at half time because they created their first chance of the game seconds after the restart when a long ball forward had to be cleared by Dundonald defender Scott Durie. The visitors didn't  heed that  warning and lost a goal when they failed to clear the ball from their box and Haddington forced the ball over the line. The home side were not giving the visitors any time on the ball now and when Wallace was caught on the ball in midfield they raced forward and fired the ball into the net. It was Dundonald now who were struggling to get out their own half and when Forbs misjudged a ball into the box the Haddington striker slid the ball under Lennox to score. A mistake by the Haddington fullback gave Campbell the chance to put this game to bed but the keeper saved his effort. In the closing minutes of the match Haddington had a great chance draw level when their striker found himself one on one with the keeper but his shot was poor and Lennox cleared the danger.

If ever there was a game of two halves this was it. Dundonald went in at half time four  up and it should have been more but in the second half when Haddington got a few goals back they lost their shape and some players stopped wanting the ball which in turn put their team under more pressure.
