League - Conference B Dundonald 6 - Eyemouth 0 Smith (3), Campbell, Ness , Durie
Dundonald welcomed Eyemouth to Moorside park for this Conference B League match. This was the first time the two teams had played each other so both sides knew very little about the other. Dundonald were on the front foot from
the first whistle while the visitors were happy to sit in and try and frustrate Dundonald. The "Bell" thought they had broken the deadlock in the 22nd minute when Smith put the ball in the net after the Eyemouth keeper had failed to hold a Forbs shot but the goal was ruled offside. The big striker didn't have to wait long to open his account when he scored with a delightful chip over the keeper. As the half drew to a close Campbell was unluckly not to score with a free kick which rebounded off the post.
Half Time 1-0
Dundonald faced more off the same tactics in the second half with Eyemouth happy to have every player behind the ball. A foul on O Neil resulted in a penalty for Dundonald. Campbell stepped up to take the kick and although his kick was saved he scored with the rebound. A good ball to the back post found Ness, on his own, and the young midfielder fired the ball into the net to score his first goal for Dundonald. It was all Dundonald at this stage and it was now just a case of how many they were going to score. Durie got the fourth when he slotted Campbells cross into the net. Durie then turned provider when his cross was turned into the net by Smith. Campbell saw another free kick hit the wood work before Smith netted again to complete his hat rick .
Full Time 6-0
Eyemouth came with a plan to sit in and frustrate Dundonald and for the first half of the match they did it well but it was only a matter of time before the goals were going to come. This was not the best game to watch but again Dundonald took all three points and with home advantage they will be looking to take another three points next week when local rivals Burntisland Shipyard vist.
