Alex Jack Cup
Dundonald 2 - Broxburn 5
Dundonald faced Broxburn for the second time this season and"the Bell" were hoping to make their home advantage pay and get into the second round of the Alec Jack Cup. It was Broxburn who made the better start
and took the lead when a cross in from the left found a player unmarked at the back post who slotted the ball into the net. Dundonald were struggling to get into the match at this point and were glad to see a Broxburn shot go over the bar. The home side eventually started to get on the ball and they drew level when Mckenzie fired the ball into the net after Walton had put him through. Broxburn thought they had regained the lead but their free kick rebounded off the bar and when it fell to their striker his shot was superbly saved by Dundonald keeper James Lennox. Mckenzie thought he had got his second goal of the game but this time it was the Broxburn keeper who made a fine save. The visitor regained their lead when their striker broke free and rounded the keeper to score. Two minutes later Broxburn got goal number three when they fired the ball past lennox from the edge of the box.
Half Time 1-3
Dundonald knew they faced an uphill battle to get back into this match and their hopes disappeared when a ball into the box found an unmarked Broxburn player who headed it into the net. Campbell scored for Dundonald before a mix up in their defence let Broxburn in again to score their fifth.
This is a game Dundonald will be wanting to forget they never got started and didn't look or believe they could turn the game around.
