Dundonald 3 - Hill of Beath 2 Cargill (2) Dail
This was the first meeting of the current season between these two local rivals. Both teams have been struggling for consistency so todays result was important for the two sides.
It was the visitors who had the better of the opening stages of this match they showed more hunger and didn't let the home side settle. As the game progressed the "bell" got into their stride and started to press forward. A great cross in from the left by Gay found Cargill at the back post and the striker headed home to give his side the lead. Moments later Dundonald extended their lead when Cargill scored again. With the first half drawing to a close the "Haws" gave themselves a lifeline when Kirby forced the ball over the line after Dundonald failed to clear their lines.
Half Time 2-1
The early part of the second half was an even affair with both teams fighting to gain the upper hand. The visitors had a great chance to equalize when a ball to the back post found one of their players on his own but he blasted the ball over the bar. The "Haws" made up for this miss when Watt slotted the ball home to draw them level. Dundonald substitue Ross Mutch thought he had put his side back in front but the "beath" keeper somehow kept it out. The match boiled over at this point and in the space of five minutes three player, two from Hill of Beath and one from Dundonald, saw red and were sent off. Dundonald made their extra man pay and got the winner after Wallace and Cargill combined which allowed young Dail to fire home the winner.
This was your usually hard fought derby with goals and sendings offs but Dundonald came out on top so they have the bragging rights for now
